Independent auditors assess and validate security protocols for Collabware’s software products and internal company processes.
For Immediate Release: Thursday, January 9th, 2020
Vancouver, B.C. - Collabware, a leading provider of records management, discovery and compliance software, today announced the successful completion of the Service Organization Control (SOC) 2, Type 1 Security and Availability Compliance audit. Led by an independent third party, BDO Canada LLP tested and validated the controls put in place by Collabware to assure customers that strict information management protocols are being adhered to.
Established as a standard by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), criteria and
reporting principles are outlined as a means for organizations to create a documented framework of policies and procedures to prove how they manage and secure data in the cloud and ensure protection of customer privacy. The SOC 2 Report has become a benchmark standard, and now-often-specified requirement, in the software procurement process.
The test covers numerous components, including:
- Physical Security
- Environmental Security
- Logical Access Management
- Reporting Deficiencies
- Network and Operating System Security
- Vulnerability Management
- System Monitoring
- Protection against Malicious Software and Programs
- Change Management
- Incident Management
- Staff Code of Conduct and Hiring Procedures
- Internal and External Communications
- Software Processing Capacity
- Data Backup and Recovery
Collabware underwent a thorough review of its software products, operating systems and internal procedures and took measures to add even further security layers while creating or updating procedural documentation to meet SOC 2 guidelines.
“We are in the business of data management, and security is, and always has been, a critical factor in our
product promise,” says Graham Sibley, CEO of Collabware. “Our customers’ trust in us is paramount which is
why we will always be evolving and bettering our systems and procedures to meet their highest expectations.”
“The SOC 2 Control Audit process evaluated both Collabware and Collabspace to ensure the appropriate
controls are in place,” explains Anastasia Hunter, Collabware SVP of Operations. “Over this year and moving
forward, we will undergo annual SOC 2 Type 2 audits to demonstrate our continued adherence and consistent delivery of our security controls.”
